I’m Glad Korea Lost

It’s just a game.  Get over it.  Tonight, I chose to skip watching the WBC and instead talked with someone that is very dear to me about some things that were going on in their life.

I logged onto Facebook (yes, Facebook, not ESPN) to see what the final score was and saw that Korea had lost.  Most of my friends on Facebook are Korean, and to be honest, most of what I read made us Koreans look like sore losers.

Be honest, you have too much pride and some of you are just straight out racist. Some people are just really competitive, some people are just being playful and I GET THAT.  But come on, there’s no need for threats against Ichiro’s life, there’s no need for the blame game.  Japan played well too!

You really need to stop hating on the Japanese.  How come no one is blaming the poor pitching from Korea for this game?  Why is everyone hating on Ichiro?  Need I remind you that he is our most prized player here in Seattle?  You’ll hate him now, but you may love him later.

There were a few people who, I felt, had the right attitude.  And out of all the people, they were junior highers.  Shame on you high school, college, young adults, or “so called adults” who don’t know that YOU are to set the example.  How humbling.

Why am I glad Korea lost?  I’m Korean, I love my parents, I appreciate the good things that come from our culture.  But one thing that I struggle with constantly is pride… and if there’s one thing Koreans are known for, unfortunately it’s pride and stubbornness.  Anything that would help humble, I’m all for it.

I’m watching ESPN now and they are raving about how good of a game it was.  It was close, went into overtime, and there were some really great plays.  To be honest, I do wish Korea won, but we don’t “deserve” it especially with the responses some Koreans have towards the loss.

I only wonder what would have happened if we had won???
